The short version
- Your trips are yours. We store and process them only to run Unplanned for you.
- Unplanned is a planning tool, not a travel agent. Your bookings are between you and the airline, hotel or other provider.
- Ask Unplanned and booking imports use AI and can be wrong. Check anything important against your booking or an official source.
- Pro is billed yearly in advance and renews until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal.
- You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend accounts that break these terms.
This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what apply.
These terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Thecreativecoefficient ("Unplanned", "we", "us"). They cover your use of travelunplanned.com, the planner, the forwarding addresses for importing bookings, and any related services (together, the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and confirm you have read our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may buy a paid plan only with a parent or guardian's permission.
- Give us accurate information, including an email address you can receive mail at. We need it to confirm your account and reset your password.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Your trip's forwarding address works like a password for that trip: anyone who sends mail to it can add a booking for your review. Don't publish it.
Early access
Until public launch, the Service is available by invitation. Invite codes are personal to the people they were given to, and we may withdraw unused codes.
During early access, features, allowances and prices may change, and some features may be switched off while we work on them. We take backups, but we recommend keeping your original booking confirmations rather than relying on Unplanned as the only copy.
Your content
"Your content" means everything you put into the Service: trips, places, notes, costs, your Travel Style, profile photo, emails and files you import, and your Ask Unplanned messages.
You own your content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, display and transmit it, only as needed to run, secure and improve the Service for you. This includes sending it to the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy, such as our AI provider when you use Ask Unplanned or imports. The licence ends when your content is deleted from the Service, except for copies in backups until they expire and anything you have shared with other members of a trip.
You are responsible for your content. By adding it, you confirm you have the right to do so. Booking confirmations often include other people's names and details; only import them if those people would reasonably expect you to, such as the people you're travelling with.
We do not review your content routinely, but we may remove content or restrict an account if we believe it breaks these Terms or the law.
Ask Unplanned and imports
Ask Unplanned, booking imports and first-trip setup use AI models. They can produce answers or extracted details that are incomplete, out of date or wrong, including times, dates, timezones, prices and booking references.
- Review every imported booking before you accept it, and confirm important details with the provider.
- Treat Ask Unplanned as a helpful starting point, not professional advice. It is not a substitute for official information about visas, entry requirements, health, safety, weather, road conditions, or local laws.
- Places and businesses Ask Unplanned mentions are suggestions, not endorsements.
You are responsible for decisions you make using AI output.
Not a travel agent
Unplanned does not sell, book, change or cancel travel. We are not a party to any contract between you and an airline, hotel, car rental company, tour operator or other provider, and we are not responsible for their services, prices, changes, cancellations or refunds.
Links to third-party sites are for convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.
Maps, routes and rates
Maps, addresses and routes come from OpenStreetMap and related open services, and may be inaccurate or out of date. Distances and drive times are estimates for planning only. Do not use Unplanned for turn-by-turn navigation.
Currency conversions use published reference rates and are indicative only. Budget totals are for planning and may differ from what you are actually charged.
Plans and payment
Paid plans are not yet on sale. This section applies once they are, and during early access nobody is charged.
Free
The Free plan includes one active trip and limited allowances for booking imports and Ask Unplanned answers, as described on our pricing page.
Pro
- Pro is a yearly subscription, billed in advance in US dollars at the price shown when you subscribe, plus any applicable taxes.
- Pro renews automatically each year at the then-current price, charged to your payment method on file, until you cancel. We will email you before each renewal.
- You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the year you have paid for, then return to Free.
- Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, or where we choose to give a refund. If you contact us within 14 days of your first Pro payment, we will refund it in full.
- If we change the price of Pro, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first.
- "Unlimited" means unlimited for normal personal use. Features with an allowance, such as Ask Unplanned answers, reset each month. We may apply reasonable limits to prevent abuse or automated use.
- If you return to Free with more trips than Free allows, we won't delete your extra trips, but you may not be able to edit them until you upgrade again or archive them.
Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor under its own terms.
Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including their privacy;
- upload malware, or content that is abusive, harassing or unlawful;
- access another person's account or trips without permission, or probe, scan or test the Service's security without our written permission;
- disrupt or overload the Service, or get around rate limits, allowances or plan limits;
- scrape the Service, or access it by automated means other than those we provide;
- resell the Service, or use Ask Unplanned or imports to build a competing product or train an AI model;
- send bulk or unsolicited mail to a forwarding address.
You must also follow the usage policies of the open map services we use, which prohibit bulk downloading and heavy automated use.
Our service and feedback
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the Unplanned name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use it; they don't transfer any ownership. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database Licence.
If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account from Settings at any time. Deleting your account permanently removes it and the trips you own, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you have Pro, deleting your account cancels it; the refund terms in section 9 apply.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if your use puts other users or the Service at risk. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export or copy your trip details. If we close your account without cause, we will refund any unused portion of a Pro subscription.
We may stop offering the Service altogether. If we do, we will give you at least 60 days' notice, a way to get a copy of your trips, and a pro-rata refund of any prepaid Pro subscription.
Sections 4, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 continue to apply after these Terms end.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that information in it, including AI output, maps, routes, times and exchange rates, will be accurate or complete. We disclaim all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law. For example, if you are a consumer in Australia, our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded; if you are in the EU or UK, you keep your statutory rights. Where we are allowed to limit our liability for a breach of such a guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, missed or changed travel, or the cost of replacement travel, arising from or relating to the Service, even if we were told they were possible.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$50.
These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Indemnity
If you use the Service in breach of these Terms or the law, or upload content you did not have the right to, and someone brings a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim. This does not apply to the extent the claim was caused by us, or where the law does not allow it for consumers.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the courts of Alberta, sitting in Calgary.
If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country or province where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts where those laws allow.
Before starting a formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the problem informally. Most issues can be fixed with an email.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the planner at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree with the change, you can delete your account before then, and we will refund any unused portion of a Pro subscription. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, the new Terms apply.
General
- These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it.
- You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer them to a successor operator of the Service, who will be bound by them.
- Neither of us is responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside reasonable control.
- We may send notices to the email address on your account.
